    Good Day,

Have searched in various places and gone through plenty of tutorials, but still not able to get Remote Desktop Connection to work.

This is my case. Have 2 laptops, both connected to same wifi network, enabled RDC on both laptops, but not able to make it work. Would appreciate if anyone can help me with this.

    Thanks in advance.

I'll give this a crack, but I have only used RDC with computers connected to the same router (both via ethernet).

Are you able to verify that both computers are on the same network? To do so, open the Network folder. You should see both of the PCs there. To find the Network folder, use the search feature tying "Network" in the search box. Open the folder and wait for Windows to search the Network. Both PCs must be on and connected for them to both show up.

If you don't see both, check to see if the PC that you will be accessing has Remote Connections enabled. Use the search bar again and type remote in the box. Click on "Allow remote access to your computer". Where you see Remote Desktop, select "Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)". Click OK and then check the other PC to see if the RD enabled PC is now showing up in the network. You can right click on the Network folder desktop and select refresh to make sure.

Once you have both the computers in the Network windows, right click on the PC you are connecting to and select "Connect with Remote Desktop Connection". That should do the trick.

Hope this helps. Post back if you have any troubles.

P.S.-Can't remember the exact process for getting both PCs to show up in the Network window if you aren't seeing both there. I think you have to go through the steps to create a Home network using the Network Sharing Center dialog window.

Add the user from laptop 1 to laptop 2 as an admin and then add the user from laptop 2 to laptop 1 as an admin.
What error do you get right now?

When you say notable to get it to work, what exactly is the error message?
A common problem with RDC not being able to log in to the remote system occurs when you either don't have a password enabled or you're running a password bypass program (on the remote system).

Make sure the login on the remote system has a password, and uninstall any password bypass software.

What security programs do you use on the PCs? Using Private Firewall, I had to allow the Remote Desktop Connection process when the alert popped up for the connection to work (on the PC being used to access). I am using 360 Total Security for a-v on both machines that I use this way, and I don't get any pop ups beyond the one I got the first time I connected...

By the way, you should only need to turn on Remote Desktop on the machine being accessed. I have it off on the machine I use to actually view the connection.

Otherwise abekl is correct that both PCs must be on a password protected account...
