Remote Desktop Issue

I was using RDP to connect to a VPS of mine. I had a power surge in my home and my computer shut off while I had the terminal session open, so my computer shut off. As I reboot my computer and connect through remote desktop again, I am presenting with a connection with no windows in the taskbar, I had about 3 before. When I go to bring up Opera, it tells me another copy of Opera is running, so I'm thinking the terminal connection I was using before my loss of electricity still exists. How do I access this session?
