Downloaded Mozilla Firefox, complete with Ask in search.
I do not want Ask, but cannot seem to download Firefox without it.
Can it be removed by itself?

Where are you downloading Firefox from.

Firefox does not promote Ask.com and most likely never will.

Sounds to me that you need to completely wipe Firefox off system.

What version of windows are you currently using Xp,Vista,7,8,8.1.

There are ways of completely removing Firefox.

First is to use either these two uninstallers.

    Revo. Revo Uninstaller 1.95
    or
    Iobits. Iobit Uninstaller 2.4.7.340

Then after you uninstalled Firefox in Xp use the files or folder option to search for the folders.

You can use this optional Everything 1.2.1.371 download to search for files and folders for vista,7,8,8.1 OS to make is easier.

In windows vista or up.After uninstall if you are running in 32bit or 64bit versions 64bit look in both Program Files Folders regular and the (x86) Folder for Firefox or mozilla folders and Delete.

After that Look in your %Temp% folder remove every thing in there.

And then look in your %Appdata% folder as well for any Firefox or Mozilla folder.

After that is done if you know how to use the registry option.Use the Edit option and then Find,Then in Find put either mozilla or firefox mozilla would probably work better.

And then Delete key on the right side that is marked mozilla or firefox Close all the folders and press F3 again to do another search and repeat this till it can not find any more options.

Now after that is all done.

    You can either download Firefox from {MG}

I downloaded and installed the English language FF v. 23.0.1 from here
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
yesterday. I was not asked about nor forced to have the ask toolbar. I show the normal FF install with nothing added to it.

I have never seen any bundled software with Mozilla downloads, especially not malware like Ask.

More likely you got it with some other software, such a Foxit Reader (which makes it almost impossible to avoid the malware).

For as long as i can remember no i have never seen any kinda firefox bundle.I have been using firefox since 3.0 and never seen any bundle like ask.com.

Only Things that i know that give an option to add ask is a third party program that is filled with malware or virus.Or other junk that is not needed.

Skysarge, can you post to let us know the source of your download of Firefox? It's a missing piece of the puzzle here.
