Remove Internal Dvd/cd Burner

My burner is not working. I have a usb burner, however my computer reverts to the internal burner. How do I stop my programs from looking at the burner that does not work. Especially, Nero 18 Platinum. I am running windows 10 on a hp desktop P7-1154. I would like to unable the built in burner and have only the usb burner recognized. I already went into device manager and disabled the built in but Nero does not recognize the usb burner for me to select it. Please advise. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

You should firstly contact Nero. Nero 18 Platinum is expensive and you are entitled to priority support.
Give them your drive's full model number and do remember to mention it's a USB drive.

 

I have been requesting assistance from them for over a week with no response. Don't know where to go from here??

 

I know it is kind of late to ask but is Roxio better than Nero? Would I have gotten assistance from Roxio?

 

This is not good.
I just had a look at Nero's support and the publisher really wants the user to jump through hoops.

Roxio has never been better than Nero.
It's not possible for me to say whether you would have gotten better support.

Did you not get any money back guarantee from Nero?

Well I tried everything. It is not my burner but none of my burned DVDs have any sound to them. I cannot figure out what the problem is. The sound on my computer works for everything else but the DVDs I am burning. Been working at this for days. No response from NERO. What a mess. Is there anything else I could try to get sound on my files? They were downloaded from streaming in MP4. I converted them to MP2 and then burned to cd. When I play them on my computer there is no sound just picture. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Originally as MP4 they do have sound. After download and recode to mp2 there is no sound. When I go thru the file it states "no audio." Could all of this be a Windows 10 issue? I notice there are some users who have audio problems. It is hard to figure out.

 

This is the problem.
Whatever converter you're using is removing the sound. Check the settings or try a different converter.

FYI Most commercial video players will play MP4 videos.

I have not used Nero Recode.
Why don't you stay with MP4?

 

I burn the DVDs for older friends and some of their DVD players don't play MP4. I wish I could. Would make it so much easier for me
