I had a friend do some work on my acer 5315 series laptop. When he did he put a partition on it. The on problem is that my acer only has like 160 GB of hard drive. When he did it he split the drive into 2 80 GB partitions with stuff on both. So when I try to move stuff over to the other partition I don't have enough room on it to house everything from both partitions. So, I'm stuck. Does anyone have anynsuggestions on how to overcome this? Thanks.

Just delete the partition that is the non OS partition and then once you've done that, you can extend your primary OS partition over that space and you got your real estate back. :major

Reduce the size of the secondary partition, and increase the size of the C: drive, then move everything from the secondary to the main partition.

Now you can delete the secondary partition completely.

I think you need an external storage eg: external hard drive to copy the contents of your non OS partition to. THEN you can delete that partition then upsize the OS partition (using tools already mentioned) to take up the disk space now available from the old partition. Finally copy back from the external hard drive to your single partition.

Without the external storage you could try doing it in very small increments ie. copy what you can from 2nd drive to OS drive then resize both (reduce the 2nd partition as much as you can and upsize the OS partition to take up the new unallocated space on the drive) and work back and forth like that until you only have one partition. so on...could be painfully slow. Good luck.

So I have been doing the shrink one and extend the other suggestion. At one point all I had was a back up left on my d partition but still had 39 gb left I couldn't find. Turns out the back up was 39 gb itself. Now that I have taken care of that the problem is solved. Thanks for all of the suggestions!
