    Hi everyone!

Thanks to help from Kestrel13! in the Malware Removal forum, I have managed to clear my friend's laptop following an email virus.

Now that the machine is clear, and the email account password is changed is there anything else that should be done before going back to using the Gmail account as normal?

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Lucia

Yes, if you were cleared of malware, you should be good to go. Just make sure it's a strong password and hopefully your friend is clear that they should never click links in email. I always tell people that unless you are using for business, its unusual enough for people to send you links via email that you should probably assume its malware no matter who its from (better to be safe and just send an email back and ask them if they sent a link).

Other than that, Google actually has a security checklist for email you can go through: https://support.google.com/mail/checklist/2986618?hl=en
