Removed sound card, no sound now.

OK, I re-installed the latest Realtek AC850's, installed the latest K-lite codecs full pack and WMP, WMC and MediaMonkey tell me there are no codecs installed, besides no youtube sound either. I did have to remove my SB Live! sound card as the rig wouldn't even post! Everything in device manager is looks good. Any ideas of what to do next?

Have you reset your BIOS back to onboard audio?
Check that Windows Audio Service is started.
Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
Scroll down the list of services until you find the Windows Audio service.
Right click on it and choose Properties.
Make sure it is set to Automatic and Start is checked.

And most important: rolleyes
Post a make and model # if your PC is manufactured (Dell, Gateway, HP, etc.) or your motherboard ID, if it is a build. Or even better:
Use Everest to get a report of your system’s hardware, OS, and drivers. Upload the report as an attachment

Thanks muskie, too bad you didn't stop after mentioning the BIOS. That was exactly the issue, I had totally forgotten about it! Just so as you don't feel as if you've wasted your time, I'm going to go through the rest of your post so that I never forget this again. Thanks muskie.

BTW, just for your information, the mobo is an ASUS A8N-E and XP Pro.
