removed speakers!

ugh, i am REALLY fumbling around w w7 here. tried to listen to an audio stream while sitting in a wifi zone (public library), only to realize that speakers were blasting in ADDITION to the headphones (my other PCs it was always either/or). EVERYONE in the library was glaring at me!!!! :-o

(thank god it wasn't PORN!!)

but turning the speakers off also turned the headphones off. what thu...?

as i scrambled around to find the setting where they were distinct, i started seeing "this device (speakers) has been REMOVED". removed?! when did i "remove" anything?!

now NEITHER one works. and the show (stream) is half over. UGH.

so where the heck do i "reinstall" the speakers from? i clicked on "hardware and sound>>add a device", but it just hangs on "searching...."

Is this your computer? If so, just simply restart the computer and see if it will bring the audio back.

 

Right click on the little volume icon and select playback devices. Then let me know what you can see. You may need to right click on the open box and select show disabled and disconnected boxs.

 

nvm. by the time i typed this, the speakers or audio drivers or w/e had "reinstalled" themselves, and this time the headphones play independently. i give up!

will be really nice once i find that DEVICE MANAGER....major complaint so far with w7 is too many "wizards", not enuf "lists" (or "trees")....

 

start run "devmgmt.msc"

 

Or simply right-click My Computer and hit Manage and you will see Device Manager from there.
