Removed ZeroAccess rootkit - ps/2 mouse and keyboard won't work now on WinXP

    Hello,

    I am curious about this message: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=245430

    I was able to remove ZeroAccess via using ComboFix, but now am currently unable to use a PS/2 keyboard or mouse with my computer. Only USB works. I tried doing what the person suggested in that thread, but I am not having any luck. Some combination of ZeroAccess and/or ComboFix seems to have messed up my PS/2 drivers, and I can't figure out how to undo the damage.

    You should never run a fix meant for someone else's computer!!

    Now you need to follow these instructions:

    READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    Do not re-run Comb0 ....just attach the log from the last time you ran it.

    I did not follow his steps. I used ComboFix first after conventional anti-spyware failed, and then found the thread via Google.

    I have my quarantine file. Unfortunately I do not have anything else, and would have to run it again to get the full log.

    Nothing in those logs indicates any action taken on the keyboard or mouse properties. Do you have your install disc?

    I have been looking, haven't been able to find it.

    Are you thinking to try reinstalling windows components?

    edit: ok, I found it.

    Go to start / run and type:
    sfc /scannow

    Have your disc handy.
