    Hello I have a strange question and I am at my wits end here on trying to figure this one out.

    As almost everyone knows, when you right click on to your XP Desktop, you can go into Display Properties and under the settings tab, you can change the resolution from say 800 x 600 to 1280 x 1024.

    We have a couple of computers here at work and all of the screen resolutions should be set at 1280 x 1024, however one of our co-workers keeps changing it back to 800 x 600 even after they have been told specifically not to by management, their defense - "it's stupid and I don't like it."

    Rather than bite the bullet and discipline the employee, I have been asked if it is possible to keep the resolution at 1280 x 1024 and remove the capability to change the settings by getting rid of the settings tab in the display properties.

    Anyone have any suggestions? Is this something that can be done in regedit.exe?

    All machines are 2.8 P4 HT's with 512 ram and have Windows XP SP2.

    Admin Priv's required;
    To remove the right-click abilities from the desktop (for everyone), in regedit go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer, and add a DWORD value named NoViewContextMenu, with a data value of 1.

    Change it to 0 to reinstate the ability.

    You can also perform this on the individual user if desired. (HKU or HKCU\etc)

    Sounds good. I will give it a try when I get back to work.
