removing my CD rom drive. . . .

I want to remove my CD rom drive from my PC , just want to make sure there are no software settings I have to adjust or something!!, the drive door has been dying and now its finally died on me so I want to get it fixed, and i think that it is now giving me BSOD stop message page fault . . .(50) , which I know is memory related but I need my CD rom to boot for for the memtest i will perform since I have no floppy drive. Also what diagnostic tool can I get to test my video cards memory and cpu memory!!.

You can freely remove a cdrom drive whenever you like. Just make sure to turn the computer off first. Although fixing cdrom drives usually isn't worth it, since they are so cheap unless you plan to fix it yourself it's most likely cheaper to just buy a new one.

As for tools to check video memory, it's basicly going to be benchmarks when in windows. As for the CPU, well memtest86 tests the l1 and l2 cache as well as the ram. So you're already covered there.

I just meant pretty much any benchmarks. Like 3dmark, aquamark, basicly any benchmarking program. 3Dmark is free btw, you can't adjust settings without paying but you don't need to adjust the settings anyways.
