So I'm removing NAV and Security which means I need to replace it with 3 different programs. I've done tons of research on this site and am going with Avast! and Zone Alarm, but I need a great free spam filter for Microsoft Outlook. I'm looking at Spamihilator, SpamWasher (didn't have any ratings though) and SPAMfighter Standard. Any preferences? My husband will freak if it doesn't work as well as our Norton and since I convinced him to drop NAV, I would love some of your advice. He prefers a toolbar there (or right click menu) that will enable him to say whether it's Spam or not. Thank you so much. You guys are truly awesome. Stephanie:cool:

I've been researching the web and found SpamBayes to be a great choice for Outlook. Does anyone have experience with this program?

Be a bit careful with Avast and Zone Alarm Steph as on some pc systems, dont ask eme why but its documented that they are not 100% compatible and can lead to PC restarts,

the next best options for either one of them are

AVG free edition in lieu of Avast

or in Lieu of Zone Alarm Outpost Free

but my pref would be Zone Alarm ( because of ease of use ) and AVG, but only if Avast doesnt play nice with Avast... ( I have Avast and ZA, happily on my laptop, but have seen it crash on some PCs when both are installed )

but back to the Spam question, I have heard great things about SpamBayes, but never gotten around to using it, at home I use Mailwasher with OE as I only have one email address it needs to check and with the Pro version being free if you only have one email address to check ( features and benefits to Free vs Pro paid here http://www.mailwasher.net/index.php )

Spamihilator also gets some good reviews.

but tip... never have bounce emails enabled or used, as if you do that the spammers have cottoned on to that being a real email address so you end up with more spam... just blacklist and delete them.

As always, thanks for the excellent info. Great to know in advance that Avast and ZA can behave badly together. And I'll check out Mailwasher as he only has 1 account, too.
    Take care! Stephanie
