removing outlook express from windows xp

hi there ,wanting to remove outlook express from my windows xp ,but when i try to delete it a pop up box appears and says

cannot delete outlook express as it is being used by another person or program ,close any program's that might be using the file and try again , now am new to this pc stuff so a would be greatful if the pro's that you's all are could give me an answer a might understand ,thanks in advanced

 

that looks ok m8 ,but have a slight problem as window's explorer is not in my accessories ,is the any way i could put it in there :confused

 

You can make OE appear to be uninstalled, if you wish. To do this, go to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and click on Add/Remove Windows Components on the left side of the Add or Remove Programs panel. In the Add/Remove Windows Components panel, you will have the option to remove OE.

Now, this does not really remove OE. In other words, it does not remove the actual program; it merely removes OE from your Programs menu and any shortcuts to it from your desktop.

As others have said, don't attempt to actually remove any underlying program files related to OE. That could mess up your system.

 

If you want a seperate icon for Windows Explorer on your desktop, you can right click on the desktop>choose "New">"Shortcut" and then type: c:\windows\explorer.exe in the target window.
Name it "Windows Explorer"
Click OK and your icon will be placed on the desktop.
Windows Explorer is always available by simply right clicking on the "My Computer" icon and choosing "explore"

 

Or, go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Windows Explorer, select Send To, and select Desktop (create shortcut).

Or, by right clicking on Start and choosing Explore.
