I'm having issues removing pcfriendly. I tried ccleaner and the add/remove program in windows. But all I get is an inuninst.exe error. Tried deleting the registry, no go. Now the logo icon is gone but a little icon of a window shortcut is left. Help please.

    Apparently pcfriendly is pretty old.
    http://www.pcfriendly.com/
because it has been updated and the copyright on the site is 1995 - 2002; I can't get the tech support link to load. It could be because I don't have the product on my computer.

I can't get this link to work either http://player.interactual.com

If all you are concerned about is a shortcut, shortcuts for the product you are trying to remove can be deleted. You will get a message telling you that removing the shortcut does not remove the actual program.

    Finally found the info
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InterActual_Player
both have been replaced by Roxio Cineplayer since 2006.

Obviously my computer is near ancient in technological terms. And bursting with programs that I no longer use. It has gotten really laggy with a nearly full memory so spring cleaning time.

What worries me about the shortcut still being there is that the program was not completely uninstalled. Because the error message came up like 2 seconds after it said it is starting the uninstall process.

Just tried the revo uninstaller and it worked really well. Still got the error message but it still passed the normal uninstallation and deleted all the registry things that I would have missed. Thanks.

If you are getting an error message, pcfriendly might be trying to run at startup. Do you have any one of these three programs: CCleaner, Startup Control Panel or WinPatrol? Any one of those can help you to stop something from loading when you computer starts up.

I wouldn't worry about your computer being ancient. I use computers that are old. What version of windows are you running?
