These things are in my start up. Not sure what is irrelevant at start up? Can you set me straight? Thank you for your assistance. This was my daughter's college computer, so I am trying to clean it up.:confused

install and run this program Thant program CPL startup will help you stop process that are running on your computer during startup.

    ccleaner
run this program, this will also get rid of some of the clutter in your computer. also run the registry cleaner part also (back up registry first)

If you don't need AOL there a a few AOL programs installed and running in the back ground, go to add and remove programs and remove it. If you do need AOL start it up and go to the settings portion of the program and choose the settings that will not run automatically at start up

You also have Spybot on your computer and it looks like you have the added program Tea Timer has been installed with it. same deal as with the AOL go to the settings page and stop it from running automatically or if you don't need it delete it.

I just spotted you have McAfee running and it looks like you also have Avg. I would think you only need on virus program running at a time. If McAfee is up to date and you have a paid subscription for it. I would get rid of AVG.

If you have gotten rid of your canon printer you can probably delete the canon printer software that running in the background. you also have ocr software running with is probably linked to a scanner or if you canon was a all in one then it used the ocr software to recognize documents when you scanned them

    Hi

Think AAWTray.ese is a typo and should be AAWTray.exe and this is Ad-Aware's application.

NWiz I always remove, never seen any use for the Nvidia startups.

Others I delete on sight and after any updates are
    Nwiz.exe /install
    RunDLL32.exe NvCpl.dll,Nvstartup
    REalPlay.exe SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER
    RoxWatchTray9.exe
    qttask.exe –atboottime
    iTunesHelper.exe
    jusched.exe
    msmsgs.exe /background

and Ctfmon, you dont need unless in MS Office your using alternative input menthods liek Voics/Speech or Tablet Pens so use this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282599

That will sure help. Yes, that was a type concerning the Ad-Aware program.
I do run AOL and have the all in one Canon printer. AOL run McAfee security.
I did run winpatrol to get the start up list. Is that similar to the other download mentioned?

    Hi

Just disable using StartupCPL for now and enable one at a time to find the cause of your freezes then let us know what application is causing the Not Responding.

But I tend to delete these as they are easily added back when these programs are updated or re-installed but most are updaters and helpers that just eat up your ram and CPU time, and dont really offer much benefit to most.

Nwiz.exe /install (is Nvidia helper, known also to cause shutdown issues)
    RunDLL32.exe NvCpl.dll,Nvstartup (nvidia helper again)
REalPlay.exe SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER (Real Player Startup, if your not playing music why have it open)
qttask.exe –atboottime (Quicktime, and really not needed unless playing quicktime files all the time)
iTunesHelper.exe (iTunes Helper file, I dont have this open at boot and I use iTunes with an iPhone and iTouch fine)
jusched.exe (Java updater, waste of space as Java doesnt update in the rollup sense, you need to download a new package and end up with multiple Java versions on your PC)
msmsgs.exe /background (Microsoft Messneger, this not needed as you can click its shortcut to run when you need it to)

RoxwatchTray9 I removed from the list as it maybe of benefit to you in starting up with your PC, but will only offer cd/dvd choices when a disk is placed in the drive, TBH its not hard to click Roxios main application shortcut in Program Files to run it for the burning options, this is my take on these sorts of applications but you may like its choices at putting in a blank disk.
