How do I remove the programs from the bottom right corner. You know, the ones next to the clock? I don't want any of them there.

    Those programs are running tasks.
Try msconfig>startup>disable them and reboot. You can re-enable them whenever you want to.

You'll need to search around in their (the programs') preferences to disable "Show icon in System Tray", or somesuch. You may not be able to remove some without uninstalling the program itself.

To hide them right click near clock>properties>taskbar customize>allways hide.

Often (but not always) you can simply right-click on the program in question and tell it too bugger-off -aside from that you should definately try the previous suggestions.

Do you want to hide the icons for the programs that are running after you have started your computer or do you not want the programs that the icons signify not start up when you start up your computer???

Everyone else has covered the question you asked, so I'm going to add a little piece of related advice. Make sure of what you are disabling. You wouldn't want to shut down your antivirus protection or your firewall, especially while you're online.

When you are in the Msconfig Startup...research what each one of the items are before you disable it!!

Like Just Playin said...you want your AV and Firewall there so you have real time protection!! There might be several items in the list related to you AV and Firewall, and they will probably have a rather obscure name for it...so like I said..research and make sure you know what you are disabling before you do it!!
