Could somebody tell me or give me a link on how to remove the RAM chips in my laptop. I can't find my user guide.

I got the cover open to the RAM but I am afraid to start pulling or yanking or prying, you know what I mean.

    thanks in advance

Most laptop RAM is removed and installed more or less the same way. If you're looking at the memory stick, it's laying flaying flat. On each end you'll see a long thin 'arm' that ends where there is a little notch in the memory stick. Using your fingernail(s) you need to gently move the arm to the side, away from the notch. If you can do both arms at the same time the memory stick will kind of spring up and you can then gently remove it from the slot. If you can't do both arms at the same time, when you move the first one, use your other hand to gently pull up on the edge of the memory that is exposed and not in the slot. If you just pull it up slightly, the arm that you were moving will not go back into the notch and you can then move the other arm. Confused? Me too. ;)
    Here's a link to the manual http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01129764.pdf
On page 57 of the manual (Adobe Reader page 64) you will find memory installation and removal instructions.
    Good luck!

The memory will spring up at about a 45° angle and you can slide it out at the same angle. The new memory should be inserted at about a 45° angle then pressed down so the two little clips on either side can grab it and lay it flat.

And once it's laying flat, push it deeper into the slot even though it looks like that isn't needed. 17 of the 20 "it's not working!" calls I had today were solved that way... LOL
