This part of windows has pissed me off to no end. What's the best and most complete way of removing it?

Disable it would be easy, minimize slide bar to least usage, then disable. What else do you want to do? I have not looked into total removal in XP yet.

Don't know if it can be removed from XP but it can be disabled.

Right click my computer/properties/system restore. Turn it off.

That's also the way to get it working again if it refuses to restore. Too bad you lose all your restore points doing it so do it now before you need it. XP's system restore has a habit of not working when you need it.

I keep a drive image myself, but the average PC user uses it frequently and it keeps them from calling me :) Anyhow, someone created a tool for ME that disabled it, I am unaware of such a tool at this time for XP that does the same. If one appears, I will post it, maybe I will do some digging around.

SR for some reason doesn't always work from day one, but after a fresh install I've found that disabling and then reenabling I've never had a problem ...i tested this about 5 times and it worked each time whereas if I didn't it failed 2/5. Weird.

    Warlock,
As you are relatively new to MG, we ask that if you would like to post links to software that you check to see if MG is hosting here first. If it is, then please post the link to the file here at MG as opposed to sending people away from this site.
I have edited your above post already as MG hosts both files.

    Thank you
