Removing Unneeded Files?

I hope that I am not off topic here, but felt that this is the closest to my need.
I just opened Ccleaner and found LOTS of files. Some I am certain that I don't need, but others I am not that sure about. I am hoping that someone can give me some guidelines in choosing which to delete. Is is safe to delete all WINDOWS\TEMP files? What about WINDOWS\DOUME\~!|Owner\LOCALS files?
Also WINDOWS\system32, mostly logs and C\WINDOWS Logs? I know that I don't need all of these logs, but which ones might I need? Is it safe to just delete all of these files. I could really gain some drive space without these files. Hope someone will help me with these files. Thank You in advance.

in this ccleaner screen you are asked if you would like to back up before deleting, i have used this program for some time now and have deleted all,and have no adverse effects

 

Backing up before deleting applies to the registry cleaner portion of CCleaner. Files under the WINDOWS\TEMP and the \TEMP under the "Owner" folder can be removed without ill effect. CCleaner does have the option to remove files in the WINDOWS\TEMP folder older than 48 hours, so you can have the most recent ones still available if necessary (for example, to complete application installation processes).

On the LOG files, some will get updated when necessary. If there are some old ones, you most likely can remove them. You can always back them up to a CD, 3.5 disk (if still around/available on your computer), etc.
