I want to rename a file, but its proven to be easier said than done.

I need to make a file named in lower case in my usb device into a uppercase file for it to work properly in SuSE 10.2 (KDE3.5.5)

Every time I try to rename it, it revers to back to lower case. I've tried renaming it as root, moving it to another directory and renaming (which works, but then reverts back to lower case when in usb). I even renamed it in XP but still reverts to lower case in SuSE.

I've googled - renaming uppercase linux - and variants thereof, but haven't been able to find a answer (lots of batch renaming stuff comes up).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance
