Rename Usb Port Etc

    Evening,
    Is it possible to rename an item in the USB port for an easier visual identification ?
    I mean currently i see under,
    PORTS (COM & LPT)
    USB Serial Port (COM5) for the said item pluged in BUT can i actually somehow rename it so its the name of the appliance plugged in still with the COM5 part of it shown.

    With me on this ?

    Google throws up many results (mostly tutorials) for the search 'Can USB ports be renamed?' but they are not simple.

    In the same list of results I got but that one was way down the list. Superuser was the first one and that linked to an eightforums one too. It's renaming them in Device Manager and the registry. Not just changing a flash drive name.
