Renaming system folders/default usernames in XP Pro?

Long story short ~ i had some "issues" and had to reinstall XP over my XP installation (didnt want to lose my files). However, the new installation duplicated all the old users and some system folders, but with a .(computername) extension. So, allusers became allusers.(computername), etc.

Windows doesnt want to let me edit the names or delete any of these or anything. It is a bit of a pain moving the stuff from my old folders to the new ones and it is also a bit cluttered looking. Can i get rid of either the old ones or the new ones?

Yeah the old ones are safe to remove, but keep in mind, the data will be loast once you delete them.
