I installed ubuntu on a work PC on the 2nd hard drive (D) by resizing the NTFS partition. Ubuntu put grub into the the MBR of C. I changed my mind about having ubuntu. While I was in windows xp 64, I deleted the ubuntu partition. Then, I rebooted. The computer no longer will boot because grub looks for the menu.lst file on the ubuntu partition. I do not have the windows xp 64 CD to restore the MBR. What do I do to restore the MBR? I can't afford to lose any information on the C drive.

Run SuperGrub boot disk from a floppy or a bootable CD. I don't remember the menus but look through them and eventually you will see one to repair Windows MBR. That's the one you want.
http://www.supergrubdisk.org/ over to the right are the downloads choose either the CDROM or the floppy. If I'm not mistaken, the download will be an ISO. Do you know how to burn ISOs? If not, post back and I'll do a step by step or some other helpful poster can tell you what to do to be sure it is bootable.
