   anyone know how to repartition 15 & 25 gigs back together (winxp pro).
   or should i do it on the clean reinstall? (if so, how/when would i do that?)

   Combining partitions will almost always crash your HDD by corrupting the partition table on the primary partition. You are probably better off backing up your data; then deleting the partitions and doing a clean install of XP.
