Hi all. I repeatedly get an update failed message saying, Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 has failed to install. I have all Windows Updates successfully (until this arrived) installed using Automatic Update, but this keeps popping up every time I log on. Any help offered to stop this appearing is much appreciated as it is very annoying! :confused

There might be a workaround for this. I think Microsoft ended support for .NET Framework 1.1 but I'm not absolutely sure. Go to the Microsoft Update Site in IE 8 and choose optional/custom updates (they can be selected individually or hidden if you don't want them). This will give you the option of installing software/updates for other Microsoft products besides Windows.

I tended to de-select .NET Framework 1.1 because of the ASP machine account it sets up and I always have to disable. In XP, I install .NET Framework 2, 3.5 and 4 (some of the apps I run require them). There will be security updates for .NET Framework once installed.
