.I have windows xp and a dell inspiron 1525.
.My router is a Linksys E1550
.The repeater is a Linksys RE1000.

Anyway This repeater has worked on other computers... Today I had to reset my router for technical reasons. Which was everytime I went to webpages it would ask me to enter in my routers username and password as if I was trying to enter in my routers configuration when I wasnt... So I reset the modem and everything for that reason. Anyway I connect to dell website i dl the wireless drivers... I first try the intel one Ill lncfuse the decription below... That wireless adapter wouldnt work on this computer so. I dled this as well

    . Description
Installer package for driver version 11.1.1.22 and Intel PROSet/Wireless utility version 11.1.1.7 supporting Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 496

.Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN MiniPCI Card, Wireless 1470 Dual-Band WLAN miniPCI Card, Wireless 1390 WLAN MiniCard, Wireless 1490 Dual-Band WLAN MiniCard, Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card, Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card Desktops, Wireless 1395 WLAN MiniCard, v.4.170.25.12, A17

The second one listed works fine I can connect to the internet wireless with no problem.. Only thing is when I try to install my router its telling me to disable to dell wireless manager and install through using windows wireless manager? Anyway when i check wifi are to see what connections are running. I see the actual router and i see the repeater. But i dont know if the repeater is actually working properly... Like how if i walk from one room to another its suppose to go from the router then switch over to the repeater for the better connection. Now i actually have to go into my wifi connections manager and select the fact that I want to connect to my repeater.. Which is annoying and I thikn defeats the purpose of the repeater? So does anyone have any idea on what I should do?

Also Im pretty sure every other computer is connecting to it just switching over to it without physically having to select it to connect... I'm the only computer in the house that has to actually select it.

And one more thing... Im walking back from room go room watching the wireless program and when it gets near the repeater it will start saying its scanning for the repeater only... Then if I walk away and stand near the router it will try to find the router instead of the repater. So maybe it is working? I also created a wifi password for my repeater are you suppose to wifi protect repeaters?

Hufffz.... Sorry guys I figured it out lol. Sorry for taking up space on the forum. But if anyone is curious to how i fixed it i use the dell wireless wlan card utility. It has an open that says let this tool manage your wireless networks... just uncheck it and install your wifi extender then recheck it once its all set up. Once again sorry guys.
