Repeating email

I got an email from a friend that kept duplicating every few seconds. The same email was sent to my wife and my daughter. All three of us opened our email browsers at seperate computers (Office, school, home) and had the same issue. The email came through about 800 times. I blocked the senders address through junk mail and have not seen it since. My question is: Is this some type of virus that my friend has and would it have infected my computer? We called him and told him about it but he had no idea of what happened. The email contained information about an upcoming trip and contained several attached pictures.

 

It is possible that it could be a malware problem.
i would advise you to go through READ & RUN ME FIRST

then start a new thread in the malware forum and attach the logs
let the malware experts have a look at the logs to make sure your system is clean.
