I have read the recommendations re replacing MS Java, and would like to do so after being plagued with viruses/trojans. I am concerned however about ending up with a non functioning computer/programs. I am running WinXP sp1 with various other security upgrades - have not upgraded to sp2 due to problems I have heard about with this. Most important program I run is Quicken 2004, also IE 6. I did check the Microsoft site re dependencies, no other program I run is there. Can someone advise as to the safest way to procede?

    Thanks
    Jeff

Thanks, but this really doesn't directly address the question. I did see this elsewhere on this site. I guess what I'm asking is whether anyone has done this and then had serious problems with computer function.
