the title says it all...my motherboard went out(of course 1 month after my extended warranty was up). I had it replaced and when I tried to restart after repairs my comp told me my copy of vista was not current...the same copy I have been running for 2 years

microsoft says its a gateway problem and gateway says its a mocrosoft problem

any way to fix this mess?

Understand that I am not an expert on this matter, but have had some experience with it. When you replace a certain number of parts in your computer, Windows will give that message. Since you replaced the Mother Board, that would be enough to kick this message, because Windows thinks you have put it on a different computer. Normally, all you have to do is to call MS and they will reactivate.

I am presuming that the version of Windows is OEM from Gateway installed on the computer when you bought it and that is more than likely why MS says it is Gateways problem because they do not support any OEM software.

Have you made it clear to Gateway that the version of Windows you have came installed on that computer by them? Let them know if it is OEM that MS will not activate it for you and hopefully they will do what they need to do.

Good luck and have a good day,
