Replacement For Windows Movie Maker

Greetings,
I used Windows Movie Maker for TEN YEARS totally free. Now Microsoft have ditched Movie Maker and apparently sold the rights to the program to a third party vendor who is now charging $30 for it. I refuse to pay $30 for something I have been using totally free since 2007.
Can anyone recomment a free - hopefully very similar - alternative?
I am a very basic user - nothing more than editing the length of a video and saving it before using the newly created version on my website.

They use their own downloader, so be careful what you check or click.

 

Sorry, no help at all. Both links are for Trial Version downloads. There is a whole world of difference between a Trial Version which will eventually ask for payment and genuine Freeware as Microsoft's Windows Movie Maker was

It is the last version before MS discontinued WMM. I am not being asked for money to use it.

He is correct. I downloaded and installed WMM and it is indeed the genuine article. Not a trial, no payment requests whatsoever. Despite their own EULA, there were no 'special offers', as I earlier warned.

 

Considering what it costs to get a computer running Windows that Movie Maker runs on, it was hardly free. But your point is taken.

 

My wife gets free computers running Windows every time!!
