Replacement two part ethernet plugs-- please give a source

    I've seen some help video on repairing ethernet ends or making patch cables from scratch with Cat5. But trying to find a good descriptor for the Jameco catalog I come up with nothing.

    At the stores, all I can see in the little packages sold for $5.00 are the clear clippy part and not the sleeve insert.

    Also, how mandatory is having one of those big expensive crimp tools?

    Are you talking about the RJ-45 ends? I use the plane plastic ones, but don't buy really cheap ones.

    As far as the crimp tool, like any tool, you get what you pay for. Really depends on what you are going to use it for. For just a few cables, the cheap one should work OK. If you are planning on doing a lot, I would look for a better one. Get a tester also.
