I dont have Excel, you could re-install it, otherwise you have to guess.

Try inserting the Office CD you have, there might be a "repair installation" option. That should do it. If not, than just reinstall all together. It could be anumber of things that bring up this message, but ms09.dll means "Microsoft Office 9.dll", basically.

    Tech,

Also, I scanned thru the article and some others. They don't mention missing, just corrupt or page faults. So see what you think about the article. Here is another small article that mentions sometimes older versions MS Word may be the problem. I know you said "missing", but some of this info may help you.

    MS09.DLL error
This is a rare bug in older versions of Microsoft Word. When objects (excel tables, etc.) in your .doc file become corrupted MS Word will not open it and will announce that MS09.dll has been corrupted. Initially you will panic but the solution to recovering your important data is to open the .doc file in MS Word 2003 as it has a repair function. It will open your file like it should be.

    TNT,

Just did a search through all files on my C:\ drive. No sign of that ms09.dll anywhere. W98SE, office 2000 including Excel and Word. In case Matacumbie's solution is not the answer, ask friends, workmates, PC stores, using a similar configuration to yours, do a search for the missing dll on their PC's and see where it is located. Then you will know where to install, if this is the answer to your problem. What software are you running (office 2000?), what Operating system? XP Pro, XP Home, ME, W9x? Bazza

I think your right bazza, if none of the things I sent him are real specific to his problem, ask around. Steve

Any geeks out there with ms09.dll on their system. If so, where is it installed? It might speed up a solution for TNT. Bazza

nail and head..... Add/Remove > click office 2000 > Reinstall Office or Repair errors in my Office installation as krazykrl alluded to as well.

just had do do similar with office2k3 as word was acting funky, slow opening... now after repair and reboot, opens in split second again.

Another thing sprang to mind also ( Cheers Matacumbie ;) ) is that do you have all updates as well Office 2000 is upto SP3?

It may not fix the problem but its worth alwasy being upto date as the fixes may stop you from having issues in the future.

ms09.dll may refer to a specific Microsoft version number (version 9), I am not sure what version Office 9 is, but that may be why you do not have this file.

    Techie, what's the verdict?

Just a thought here, it might be a "hidden" file. If someone out there has Office they could check by show all files. I can't remember where that option is located in 98SE. Steve

Office 9 if the naming system goes right is....

    Office 11 = 2003
    Office 10 = XP
    Office 9 = 2000

the default location for that DLL should be C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\mso9.dll
    according to this http://xcelfiles.homestead.com/WhatsUpClass.html

Repair or Re-install is still best option for now as you will not loose your files but your .doc presets you may loose in word but its a small price to pay for a working app.
