Realized i had a pretty crappy post so ill repost in hopes to get more help.

    a64 3200+ winchester
    BFG 6800 OC
    MSI neo plat
1gb ocz el plat rev 2 ddr
    sb aud2
    80gb 7200rpm
    200gb 7200rpm sata
    wxp-h

The hdds were hand me downs from my previous setup; the problem was that i couldnt get Wxp installed; about 3-4minutes before it finished installing it would ALWAYS hang. I called MS and after another go at doing the same thing over and over and it worked *finnally* i fixed the boot.ini because it was showing 3 copies of wxp installed even though the reformat had deleted it.

OK after getting the barrage of display/nforce/sound drivers I went to do windows updates; IE hannged and i rebooted. I realized after 5mins of web surfing IE/NS kept hanging for no reason; I tryed playing HALO and it froze on the main menu; Doom3 Survived for about 10mins before hanging itself too requiring a reboot.

Im not sure WHAT is causing this problem; I ran memtest and it gave me no errors after about 15mins of running. Anyone got any ideas onto wth is going on? Core temp stays at about 100f and my bfg 6800 doesnt seem to get excessively hot at all. Someone please help im dying to use my comp here http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/images/smilies/drooling.gif . Thanks.

I might have narrowed the problem down; I remembered when running wxp setup i saw some display corruption (small artifact dots around the top of the screen) which i ignored. I ran memtest for 40mins and it gave me no errors at all. I DONT want to remove the heatsink/fan on it because it seems pretty tight in there. The thing is can it be my PSU? im cutting it pretty short at 410W psu.

that sounds like a video problem yes.
make sure your video card has the latest drivers and even more specifically, ones that support xp!
you might want to just take it out of it's slot (i'm assuming its agp?) and give it a clean because there might be some dust blocking, who knows!

    HI,

You need to run memtest for at least 3 passes, 40 minutes does not sound like enough.

What brand psu do you have, 410w should be enough but you can check herehttp://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/ .

Some generic psu's can be flaky and not have stable voltages that todays mobo's demand.

did you test you hard drive for bad sectors? run a diagnostic utillity and check that too.
