I was just about to post about the error code I was getting on my computer, which is the same that someone else had problems with it before, but was reprimanded for posting there my question, when I copied and pasted my question from there, the system gave me a list of threads with same or similar error messages... then at the bottom of the box it says...
Here is the thread I come from...

    I am confused...:confused

My point is... Why start a new thread about the same problem, (which I have not been able to solve) when there are 5 other threads already started, regarding the same problem...

It's referred to as hijacking someone else's thread. Their situation may be slightly different, different OS, etc. Plus when you ask for help in someone else's thread, it makes for confusion as to who is being replied to, the OP or you.

It's just best to start your own thread. :)

They want you to check out those other threads in case the problem you have has been solved already. It may save you some time if it has.

    Hi

What TimW posts is correct, the thread you where in was from 2007 and Windows 7 was not available at that time, the thread and advice was on Windws XP and Windows 7 has a completly different set of code to XP, its more likened to Vista, which you did find out when you could not run DialAFix as its not compatable, edting the registry with the posted information caused the registry to close abruptly, by running fixes that are not specifically for the Windows version you are using and/or have not been tested to work, could cause your PC to have more issues than you started with, main one being it may not start due to corrupting a system file or registry key,

Which is why its best to start a new thread, even though it seems a waste of time, to be honest, its not as more folk are likely to look and assist on a new thread then an old one, you've dont nothing wrong at all, but rule of thumb is to start a new thread on an issue if its your issue, could link to another thread and say you've tried the info listed but it doesnt work.

So please do start a new thread and enter all the info you can on what the error is, what application if any is causing it, what Windows version and mention its fully upto date etc

Thanks again for your replies. Fortunatelly the problem went away and I do not need help anymore with that particular issue. I will make sure I open a new thread if and when I do not find a solution else where in the forums...
