    Hi

What issues are you experiencing in regards to malware, if popups or browser hijacks please describe them or name what they are called?

but also follow the below guide, while some items may not run in Vista most will, but you will have to run Shownew and Getrunkeys with UAC disabled, to do this goto Control Panel > click User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts then click Turn User Account Control on/off, CCleaner and Hijackthis need to be run as specified in the guide and renamed, plus both will need to be run as an Admin, to do this right click the shortcut and choose "run as admin"

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Your halo is well earned and I appreciate prompt response.
It goes well beyond the examination I sought which for someone with your qualifications would be considered superficial.

No malware, or any other specific problems you mention.
Run CCleaner/Spybot S&D/Spyware Blaster/Windows Defender/AugLogoics Defrag/AVG 7.5 /PCPitstop Optimizer/Window Washer on weekly if not daily basis. By far the best is Advanced Windows Care v2 Personal -- even better in my opinion than ToniArts Easy Cleaner which I also have.
Various items customarily appear and are removed but nothing worth noting here. I'm more familiar with UAC enabled/disabled than ever I wanted to be.

At my level of inexperience to follow each and every step you outline would take more time/trouble than you can possibly understand. Particularly as I am not trying to resolve any specific problems.

Point is, I am simply looking for your (cursory) review of what's in that HijackThis file that I can or should remove/repair.

    Is that possible?

    Cordially, RO

Simply put no because of the below.

    Thank you ChasLang.
Indeed I'm one of those with the misconception.
As no known malware currently it's a waste of your time, but I'm no less appreciative of you and Halo. Cordially, RO
