Resizing Partition

I have a dell notrbook with an 11gb hd. I have partition "C" drive to 2.5 gb and the rest on"D" drive.
I guess 2.5 gigabites was not enough. I am getting a low space message. I have 173 megabites available on "C" drive.
I just downloaded EASEUS Partition Manager to resize the partitions.
I am getting a "locking volume failed error".
Any suggestions on how to resize this "c" drive to 5 gigabites

I have been able to change the size of the partition that does not have the operating system.
I cannot change the size of thr "C" drive partition. This is where XP PRO is installed and I need more room. Am I wasting my time?
Should I just uninstall all and change partition size from fdisk?

You always want to be careful when resizing partitions. I'm not familiar enough with this program but its probably not allowing you to resize because it is the boot partition (could be wrong though). I'd back up what you need and start from scratch. If memory serves me you can specify the partition sizes off the XP reinstall disk (just delete the existing partitions and hit 'C' to create new ones).

 

There's a great util called 'BootIt' that creates a boot floppy and allows you to resize ANY partition; C: or D:, Primary, whatever. I've used it at least 15 times to resize partitions without any problems, ever. Just be patient: at one point during the BootIt resize operation, it will look like the PC is locked up. IT'S NOT!!!! Just wait and all will be well.
