Resizing windows

Hi

I hope you can help with a strange problem.

When I open 'My Computer' the window keeps resizing itself by maximizing and then returning to the original size. It does this continually unless the control key is pressed or the window closed. I have scanned for viruses and spyware with nothing found.

This happens when I open folders as well and it has me completely baffled. Any suggestions ?

Welcome to MG, the home of the answer. Most of the time. I just have questions this time.

Just the first My Computer window?
If you double-click one of your drives, does the drive window open and do that resizing trick, too?
Do any of your other shortcuts to folders cause the same activity?
Do any of your program windows do that?
Do you have any window-display controlling software on the computer, such as Auto-Sizer or Window Blinds?

Thanks for replying, sorry it has taken me so long to get back.

I have actually managed to solve the problem by replacing the keyboard. It appears that one of the keys (control?) must have been sticking so it wasn't even software related.

Glad you got it, Ian. And even though the problem this time turned out to be hardware, this forum is a great resource when a software problem shows up.

Notice that I didn't say IF (a software problem shows up).
