    Hello
    Dell xp,sp3
I had a 15" thick monitor and could not fit my home page on it regardless of what resolution I set it to w/o causing the letters etc to be too small. I thought the answer would be a larger screen so I
got an Acer 17" flat screen and still have the same problem. If it accomodates the home page, the letters etc are a bit small.
My laptop accomodates the home page and is quite legible.
Both are set at 1024x768 but the lap is more legible.
What can I do to rectify this issue? Is a larger screen the answer or is a matter of brand or???
    Thank you for your opinion.

I'm pretty sure that this is not a hardware problem. It is likely that a setting for Internet Explorer is messed up somewhere. Go to Control Panel > Internet Options; it should open to the General tab; click Accessibility and make sure all the boxes there are not checked. Then click on the Advanced tab; click Restore Defaults; if you get a warning/acceptance prompt, click OK. I don't use Internet Explorer very often anymore so I'm not 100% that this will fix the problem, but it might, and it's a start. You might want to post in the software forum and link to this thread. Use a title like "Internet Explorer home page problem" and then say something like "I posted in the hardware forum 'cuz I thought it was a hardware problem, but it's probably a software problem" then provide a link to this thread, or ask a forum Admin or Moderator to move this thread. Another thing you can try is to use a different browser (FireFox3 and Opera are good). If the problem still happens with a different browser then we know something else is amiss.
    Keep us posted!

Opera would be my choice and not because I DO use it all the time. At the bottom right corner there is a magnifying glass icon beside a % number. Arrow on the right allows adjustments from 20%-1000%. Mine is fine at 100 but sounds like he could use 90.

I called tech support at Acer and they said the problem is not uncommon. My Dell is 5 years old and the video card required for compatibilty is 1140 x 900.
    I can only get 1030 x 800.
The card would be about $100 so I think I'll keep the old one and not pour bad money after good. When I run into serious issues I'll get a new machine with the current trimmings.
    Thank you for the opinions.

Does your monitor support that resolution? My card itself can go higher than my monitor does.

Unfortunately the highest resolution my current card has is 1300x800 and the flat panel requires 1400x900 pixels.
