RESTART and MSConfig probs <XP Home ed>

Restart doesn't work and I can't run MSConfig. Both work in Safe mode but I can't isolate the problem. any ideas?

 

A little more detail would be nice.

By restart doesn't work, what do you mean? It does nothing. It goes to a blue screen and sits there forever? What happens?

As for msconfig, what happens when you run it normally?

Also when in safe mode if msconfig works you may want to simply disable everything in the startup tab (none of it is needed to run windows). Then reboot normally, and see if things work. If they do, just reenable what you need, and do a virus and ad scan because chances are one of the things in the startup tab is what is causing your problems.
