    I need help!

My four year old XP machine will not boot up. I cannot get it to come up even in "safe mode". It acts like it wants to, but then shuts back down and gives me the following options; Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Standard Windows Startup and Last Known Good Config. Choosing any one of these send the pc through the same loop.

    Any ideas?

Nope, I can't get that far. It keeps recycling through to the black screen with the options I mentioned earlier.

I looked at the link you attached, I can't get it to go far enought ot start the "repair".

Is there any "hotkey" that can "kickstart" things along?

    I am really grasping here!

Could be a ram issue ....how much do you have ...and have you tried removing all but one stick and then swapping until you get a stable startup?
