I previously had Vista 32bit and was having some issues with it running slow so I backed up everything and installed Win7 64bit. Everything installed smoothly and when it is running works fine (unless AVG is scanning or updating). The issue I am having is one of the main issues I had prior to installing W7 and that is that when coming out of sleep or hibernation modes it goes to a black screen and does nothing, gives me the Win logo and does nothing, or simply does nothing (screen stays dark and the "working" indicator light remains off). On the W7 install I just overwrote the existing OS but since the issue is continuing I am considering running DBAN so I am starting from a clean drive. It occurred to me though that since this has been an issue on both the W7 and Vista OS that it could be a hardware issue but I wasn't 100% sure. I just wanted to get some feedback before whipping it and starting over since it was a huge PITA to reinstall all of my progs and missing drivers. I was also going to upgrade the memory but don't want to spend money on a fried PC. Think this could be hardware or should I go for the DBAN and do it again? Cheers.

If you have the time go with the Dban,,but myself I would do a clean install and check the memory size an do an upgdade.
