    Hi everyone,

I've been having a problem lately where my computer just restarts itself on its own when I'm using it. It doesn't happen each time after 2 minutes or anything like that. It seems quite random when it does it. The only clue I think I have is when I do something related to backweb (i have an HP computer) such as searching the word "backweb" using the "search" option in the start menu in Windows XP it restarts. Also, it restarts when I try to do something like a scan or registry cleaning, but especially when I use some ind of registry program.

I tried to go through the list of things to do before asking for help but I can't do most of them because my computer restarts in the process!

This is a really frustrating problem and any help you have to offer would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Nick

    Thanks for the help.
It got worse. I did what you told me to and didn't have any problems at first but now when I restart my computer it fails to even load windows and gives me this message:

"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

    Registry_Error

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows Updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

    Technical information:

    ***STOP: 0x00000051 (0x00000004, 0x00000001, 0xE1717EF0, 0x00038118)
    Beginning dump of physical memory
    Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance."

I can log into Safe mode as administrator without any problems...
But if I log into safe mode with network the screen goes black and nothing happens.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.
