The software 'Restore Point Creator' seems to change drive letters randomly. I had this trouble on three different PCs. The system mistakes pen drives for optical drives and asks you to insert a disk when you are trying to open the files and folders in it. Does any one else out there have a similar experience?

Never used it but have resolved similar problems by 'nailing down' the drive letters for USB devices in disk management.

No need to run a 3rd party program to create restore points when Windows lets you do this any time you wish.
XP: Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools then click on System Restore
    Select Create a restore point

7: Right click Computer and select Properties
In the left pane click on System Protection Option then System Protection tab
Last option "Create a restore point right now for the drive that has system protection turned on. Click the Create button
