Restore Help

    Am having problems and have no experiance on fixes. Is there anyway just to reinstall out of box condition if I dont want to save anything I have tried this many times when I screwed up and always worked before but am having problems this time as I posted in malware section but I dont even know If that is the problem I posted result I got with 1 care but all other scans say fine and fixed and imunized so could someone help computer idiot with the simpilist fix for me I dont care about saving personal stuff just want outta box state Thanks again it needs to be simple as most terms I do not understand:confused: ps I dont know how to send logs either

    If you are talking xp .....a new installation (clean install) is as simple as putting the disc in the cd drive ...boot up and at the prompt to boot from cd press enter ....then proceed with the install ...format ....install ....you will wipe everything with the complete format (ntfs ) and have a new install ....will then need to load updates , programs, etc.

    Hi tim thanks for reply I do not have cd this computer is a gateway which I was supposed to make cd but did not know how so I had been reinstalling from the machine itself. The other night it crashed with message we appoligize from windows I tried starting from evey option from screen to no avail so I finally had to start in destruct mode but now am getting weird message which I postred in dif places on this form I dont know whats going on could you pleez help me

    this is a new computer everything is on it I was supposed to make copies and do not know how a pop up keeps asking me if I want to make them I tried 2 times but they seem blank I have been reinstalling from machine

    You will not be able to do a clean install without the CD's.

    On systems that ship without the media they supply instructions for building recovery cd's as the first thing that you do upon initial installation. Building those CD's from a hosed machine wont do much good because you could never really trust them as you have experienced.

    So, you'll need to go out an buy the software.

    If you bought from a reputable dealer, go to then and demand a restore or installation disc ...or contact the manufacturer and explain the situation ..they may send you one.

    Worth a try although I have never been sucessful doing this without a charge. Usually more than buying the software off of the shelf.
