OK, here's what happened, I was following PC pitstop's 25 tips to increase PC performance. Tip #... whatever said go to add/remove and delete unused Windows components. I unchecked...checked? (what a stupid, confusing page...thanks Windowsoft) Internet Explorer (which stated it was using 0.0 Mbytes of space) and after doing so...I guess I deleted IE7 completely???.

Anyway, I lost my shortcut icon to IE7 for sure. I tried system restore to reset my PC to an earlier date but it would not do so???? OK (ripping hair out and luckily a Firefox user) I downloaded IE7 from Microsoft and reinstalled it.

It reinstalled fine...however it never added a desktop icon...WTF? I checked all my program files and Windows files and cannot find anywhere how to add a desktop IE7 shortcut icon to the desktop! I can get to the IE7 browser by going through Firefox and requesting "View page in IE" and it does come up, so IE7 is working.

Hey. This should be an easy one for MG gurus!

How do I get my IE7 shortcut back?

    Hi

Very quick way is to navigate to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE then either click on the Iexplore.exe icon and drag it to the desktop or right click and choose Send to and choose Desktop ( Create Shortcut )

Well I went there and could not find "ieexplore.exe". The only file I could find was "ieexplorer.exe.mui.", which is located in a file named "en-US". When I opened the file "ieexplorer.exe.mui", I received a pop-up that tells me 'Windows can not open this file' and states Windows need to know what program created it...yada, yada.

Oh, Hi Halo, I don't come here too often but I remember you. You and I got on a little tiff about Firefox about a year ago. Remember? lol!

Anyhow, any more suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

    ;)

I found it. It was located in a separate Windows file, not in the programs files. Had to uncheck 'hide protected operating systems files'

Thx guys for jarring my memory cells.:)
