restore plus cd

Hi, MY friend has a dell computer running windows xp home, she has her windows operating system cd and key, but does she also need a restore plus cd to wipe everything off the harddrive? as she doesnt seem to have one or cannot find it, is there another way of wiping the harddrive so i can reinstall a fresh windows. thanks in advance.

 

Simply boot to the Windows CD. Be sure the CD drive is set for the first boot device, and shortly after you turn on the PC with the Windows disc in the CD drive, you'll see "Press any key to boot from CD...." and you'll press any key. NOTE- this will NOT install all the drivers needed for sound, internet, video, etc... it will just be a basic Windows XP installation and the PC will be functional. To install the drivers, you must visit the Dell site, type in your Service Tag number (look for a white sticker on the back of the PC with a bar code and some number like 7FS8X1). You'll be directed to a list of the needed drivers. Download them on a PC with a CD burner, and burn them to a CD for installation on the Dell.
