    • System Restore is enabled on all drives when you first start your new computer or when the operating system is installed, unless you have less than 200 MB of available space on the hard disk (or the partition that contains your operating system folder).
If you do not have enough disk space available when your operating system is installed, then you must turn on System Restore, after you have made sufficient disk space available.
    • If you run out of disk space, System Restore becomes inactive. When you have made sufficient disk space available,System Restore is automatically activated, but all previous restore points are lost.
    • When System Restore is turned off on a partition or drive, all restore points stored on that partition or drive are deleted. Changes that are made on an excluded partition or drive are not reverted during a System Restore.

I tried what the link said to do and got to the point of slipstreaming SP2 and ran into a wall at command prompt. I have also read that craeting your own Windows CD can't be done, except, possibly, with the use of .cab files. This pc had just XP originally, without SP1 or SP2. I don't know, but I guess I could just try to do the original XP as this pc has the i386 files I supposedly need, or maybe I need to slipstream SP1 and then SP2. I have always kept backups on two rarely used external drives, they have backups of our pc's, movies, pictures, music, animated gifs, icons, files, everything. Well this is my second attempt at trying this, the first time I didn't have a computer with the proper i386 files, this time I can't slipstream SP2, but I will keep trying, too many people I know of without OS disks, who usually don't backup their pc's due to lack of knowledge or resources. If I ever purchase another pc I will steer clear of the corporate monoliths. If they can't give me an Authentic Microsoft Windows CD, (our HP/Compaq Presario takes 3 CD's to restore to "Factory Image") then I guess I need to have one custom made, and install Windows myself, or purchase one through a manufacturer who at least acts like they give a flying :crap.

While in Windows, put in your XP disc, make an iso of it and use nLite to slipstream SP2 + other updates onto it.
When you have it all ready, including updates downloaded and saved to a seperate folder, use the software recommended by nlite to burn it .
