I guess you didn't read the anouncement from Major Attitude before posting, did you?

He's not called Major Attitude for nothing. :D

More information about your computer system/problem is needed for someone to help you.

    Dougshar,
Even before you bother coming back with the details we need if we're going to help you, ...
Do us a small favor: Right click My Computer, Properties, System Restore tab, check the box that says Turn OFF, Apply, say Yes. Listen to the whirring for a few seconds.

    Close down and reboot.

Right click My Computer, Properties, System Restore tab, UNcheck the box that says Turn OFF, Apply, OK.

You just cleaned out and restarted your choked, clogged System Restore system, and it is now working for you again.

Repeat once every two weeks. That'll do it.

Hmmm. Something's definitely not resetting the system.

Have you checked your System Volume Information folder (the random-numbered folder inside it, actually) to make sure that there are ony the four RPs in there? If there's a leftover from another cleanup (or multiple leftovers), it won't work, ESPECIALLY if the numbers on the leftovers are above 90 (the default max for RPs).

And you ARE disabling it EXACTLY the way I said, and not just using the Disk Cleanup utility, right? BIIIIG difference! And you DO REBOOT after you disable, right? (Cuz if you don't, the counter doesn't get re-set, and the problem continues, cuz Windows thinks it's still got a huge number of RPs in there if it sees a high number. An RP91 all by itself in SVI can break the system.)

What is the exact message you get when you choose "Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time"?

Sounds like you have stuff left in SVI.
Opne an Explorer window, clcik (forgive my typing: in a hurry)
Tools, the Folder Options, then the View tab, then
    check Display ... system Folders
    check Show hiddem files
    UNcheck Hide extension
    UNcheck Hide Protected
    Check Remember

    Click Apply.
Close Explorer and open it again
Now look on your C: drive for System Volume Information folder, look insude that for a numbered folder (long letters and numbers name) open that folder, and tell me how many RPs you see in there and what the numbers are.

No pain at all. Just trying to help.
Can you log in on XP Pro as Administrator and access the folder?

Tx, Adryn. I forgot that link and had just typed this:

    In an Explorer window,
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options
Clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box
    Apply, OK,
Right-click the System Volume Information folder, and then click Sharing and Security
    Click the Security tab
Click Add , and then type the name of the user to whom you want to give access to the folder. Choose the account location if appropriate (either local or from the domain). Typically, this is the account with which you are logged on. Click OK , and then click OK
Double-click the System Volume Information folder to open it

    Open the numbered folder.
Control-a to select everything in there, Delete.
If Windows won't let you delete the latest RP, OK, get the rest.
