Restored pc now no sound

I had to do a full restore of windows on my pc, now I can't play sound it says that I don't have and audio device. However my pc says I do and its working properly but I need to install drivers. Any instuctions would be nice. Thanks.confused

 

Do you know what sound device you have?

If not, download, install, and run Everest Home Edition on this machine. (Clean FreeWare) Once it's finished loading and running, look under Multimedia,

or,

under Multimedia, PCI / PnP Audio. This will tell you what sound devices you have available on your system.

Post that information.

 

Yup- what Dan said.... if you have a mass market PC (Dell, HP, etc) just go to their web site, locate the driver downloads page, type in your model number, and you'll be directed to the driver(s) you need. Dell can be a pain sometimes 'cuz they release so many different configurations of the same model number, and finding the right driver can take 2 or 3 (or 8, or 12) tries...

Once you get your sound going, you can always buy a new sound card and avoid this problem in the future.

 

Thank you all much for your help. I have a barebones actually. But did just do a reinstall on it. Figured that my files were lost. But will definetly try all of your suggestions. Again thanks so much for your time.

 

Oh and I loaded my driver disk and that fixed the sound.
