Restoring an Image

    I had a few trojans a couple of months back. With the help of Major Geeks.com, I was able to get them removed. During the process, some of the software I rely on stopped working. I have exhausted all efforts to get it going again. I cannot reinstall because of SP2. I have an image I made before all of this happened, well it's probably 6 months old now. Since that time I have install all the Windows updates as recommended. I have dialup at 21kps so you can see why it has taken so long. Is there a way to save the Windows updates, apply my image, and then install those updates from my saved disk? Or do I have to do the Windows automatic updates all over again, not to mention my AVG, Xoftspy, SpyBlaster, Ad-aware updates?

    Thanks. So when I install this and go online, it will look for the updates and save them in a specific folder? Will CCleaner remove any of them if it is ran? Thanks for the help.

    Yes, you can do it weekly or so, I think Tuesdays are the big patch release day from Microsoft, so any day after that, then save.

    You might burn it to CD to be safe, but I dont think CCleaner would remove them. You might find options in CCleaner to avoid the folder you store them in.

    I got it! I have used RegScrupXP. I know enough about the registry to cause some serious damage. I trust this software I guess. But what I did was restore the backup files and my software started working! Thanks for your help.
